Virtual Event – “Student Loan Cancellation by Executive Action”
Watch the playback of our virtual event on Tuesday, May 7.
The cost of higher education, and the student loans incurred to finance it, have become a matter of significant public concern. The Biden administration, unable to find support for student loan cancellation in Congress, has worked to forgive or cancel student loans through a variety of executive actions.
Last year, the Supreme Court in Biden v. Nebraska struck down the administration’s attempt to cancel over $400 billion in loans under a provision of the HEROES Act. This month, the administration announced a major new initiative for debt forgiveness, which has also been challenged in court.
Our featured speakers gathered to discuss the policy and legal implications of the federal student loan program and the administration’s executive actions.
