Statement on the Assassination of Charlie Kirk

We are deeply saddened to hear about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Our thoughts are with his wife, Erika, and the entire Kirk family.

This tragedy for the Kirk family is also devastating for our society and social order.  The rule of law in America is built on the principle of nonviolence. Political violence is unacceptable and has no place in our country.

All Americans must do what we can to ameliorate the anger and hateful influences that give rise to way too much of such despicable violence.

Let us all recommit to what unites us as Americans: a love of law and liberty, including the invaluable right of free speech.
