Society Leaders Sign Brief Defending Constitutional Checks on Executive Power
Members and leadership of the Society for the Rule of Law Institute joined a Supreme Court amicus brief opposing Executive Order 14210, which seeks to radically restructure the federal government.
The brief, filed by former government officials and advisors, argues that the President cannot unilaterally eliminate or reshape federal agencies, as those powers lie with Congress under its constitutional role as the nation’s lawmaking body.
The brief states:
The agencies of the executive branch are not the President’s possessions to be reshaped or discarded as he sees fit.
