VIRTUAL EVENT: Nationwide Injunctions
An expert webinar on Nationwide Injunctions—their use, abuse, and possible future.
Nationwide injunctions—an injunction that prevents the government from taking a certain type of action against anyone, regardless of whether that person is involved in the litigation—are a powerful tool to uniformly halt allegedly illegal government actions.
However, the constitutional or statutory authority to issue this type of ruling is ambiguous. And, some Supreme Court justices have expressed skepticism about whether a single district court judge can issue an order that prohibits the government from enforcing a policy anywhere in the United States.
Join us for an expert webinar on Wednesday, April 9 at 12 noon ET that will consider nationwide injunctions, their constitutional basis, and what their future might be. We will also discuss the role of Congress in changing the current landscape of nationwide injunctions:
To discuss this important topic, our webinar will feature Prof. Nicholas Bagley of the University of Michigan, Prof. Andrew Hessick of the University of North Carolina, and Gregg Nunziata, the Society’s executive director.
This event will be on the record and open to press; for media inquiries, please contact Communications Director Tony Franquiz at [email protected].
