Virtual Event – “The Impeachment Power”
As America prepares to inaugurate a president poised to press the limits of executive power, it’s time to consider the tools the Constitution gives Congress to enforce those limits.
The Congressional power to investigate, impeach, and—upon conviction—remove members of the other two branches serves as an ultimate defense of liberty against those who would abuse the public trust. In recent years, impeachment proceedings have become far more common, but taken ever less seriously. Reasonable observers can question whether the impeachment power remains the meaningful Constitutional safeguard envisioned by the Framers.
Join us online on Tuesday, December 10 at 12 noon ET for an exclusive webinar to discuss the law, history, and politics of impeachment, featuring Yale Law School Prof. Keith Whittington and Society Executive Director Gregg Nunziata:
Prof. Whittington is the author of the new book, “The Impeachment Power: The Law, Politics, and Purpose of an Extraordinary Constitutional Tool.” This event is on the record and open to press; for media inquiries, please contact Communications Director Tony Franquiz at [email protected].
