What is the Rule of Law? | Webinar
How do we define and defend the Rule of Law as it comes under attack?
In one of SRL’s defining substack articles, our Executive Director, Gregg Nunziata, eloquently expresses the significance of defending the Rule of Law:
Everything we enjoy as Americans, from our freedoms and democracy, to our strength and security, depends on the rule of law. Today, that essential feature of our republic faces grave threats. Meeting those threats requires understanding the stakes.
In our upcoming webinar, “What is the Rule of Law,” we will explore the fundamentals of the Rule of Law and why they’re so critical to protecting our rights and liberties. Our program will feature University of Chicago Law School Professor Aziz Huq and a discussion of his new book, The Rule of Law: A Very Short Introduction, as well as his groundbreaking Yale Law Journal article, “What We Ask of Law.” We’ll explore what the Rule of Law actually means, how it shapes a nation’s legal system, and why defending it is now more important than ever.
This webinar has been approved for CLE credit in Illinois and Texas. Attorneys practicing law in other states may be able to gain out-of-state credit, subject to the rules of your particular state.
Join us on Tuesday, May 5th, at 12:00 PM ET as we further discuss the imperatives and ideals that ground our democracy and form the core of the Society for the Rule of Law’s mission.
Aziz Huq is the Frank and Bernice J. Greenberg Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School, and the author of: The Rule of Law: A Very Short Introduction. Oxford University Press, 2025.
Gregg Nunziata, our Executive Director, will be our Moderator.
