Executive Director Gregg Nunziata was featured in The National Law Journal’s coverage of Donald Trump’s potential judicial nominations. Avalon Zoppo writes:
“In his first term, [Trump] select[ed] largely for judicial excellence and a judicial philosophy,” said Nunziata, former chief nominations counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee when George W. Bush was president and adviser to former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, on judicial selection. “It’s possible that in the second term, he may look to more reliable partisans or a more political nature or even personal loyalty in the types of people he nominates to the bench,” Nunziata added. “We just don’t know yet. I certainly would hope he sticks closer to the model he followed in the first term” …
“There are reasons to be concerned that the Third Circuit‘s traditions will be challenged, but there‘s also reasons to be hopeful that they will remain resilient,” he said. “I think some of the senators in the circuit are committed to that. And similarly, the senior judges on the circuit are committed to that, which is a good starting place.
