Virtual Event — “Democracy and the Authoritarian Threat”
An exclusive webinar on defending democracy against the authoritarian threat.
We are living through an authoritarian moment. The old guardrails of liberal democracy, long taken for granted, have been cast aside by a certain segment of our citizenry and political leadership in favor of alternative means. This has far-reaching implications for core tenets of our Constitutional order, such as the rule of law, sanctity of elections, and the peaceful transfer of power.
We hosted a webinar covering these issues and more, with a focus on pragmatic strategies for defending democracy in the face of rising authoritarianism. This event explored the global and domestic threats posed by authoritarian forces and ideologies, examining how they undermine democratic institutions, erode civil liberties, and challenge the rule of law. Legal experts, scholars, and policymakers discussed strategies for safeguarding democratic values, strengthening institutions, and mobilizing civil society to resist authoritarian encroachment.
