Virtual Event – “Birthright Citizenship”
A webinar on birthright citizenship and Donald Trump’s sweeping new executive actions.
Birthright citizenship—the constitutional principle that automatically makes anyone born within the U.S. or its territories a citizen—is under fire from the new administration. Nearly as soon as President Trump signed an executive order attempting to re-write the 14th Amendment, litigation commenced to challenge this action.
Join us for a conversation about the meaning of birthright citizenship and what the future for it may be:
We’re hosting an exclusive webinar on Tuesday, February 11 at 12 noon ET that considers the origins, theory, and contemporary understanding of birthright citizenship, featuring Robert VerBruggen, Professor Ilya Somin, and Gregg Nunziata.
Robert VerBruggen is a Fellow at the Manhattan Institute where he writes on an array of issues, including economic policy, education, and public safety. Professor Ilya Somin is a Professor of Law at George Mason University and the B. Kenneth Simon Chair in Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute. He has written a number of books, and most recently he authored “Free to Move: Foot Voting, Migration, and Political Freedom.” Gregg Nunziata is the Executive Director of the Society for the Rule of Law.
