Alan Raul in the Wall Street Journal

SRL Board President Alan Raul was featured in the Wall Street Journal on the growing threat of American disillusionment with free enterprise and democracy itself. Responding to Jamie Dimon’s, “A Plan for the Western World’s Revival,” Alan Raul contends that the solution to political nihilism lies in a recommitment to American ideals.

What we need is to rededicate ourselves to the values and principles that make our nation great: respect for the Declaration’s creed, constitutional checks and balances to prevent arbitrary power and, above all, reverence for the rule of law.

Mr. Dimon should pledge significant personal and corporate sums to help instruct and encourage these ideals. Fund and resource a cadre of post-high school young people to teach American civics and principles. They wouldn’t need to be professional or perfect, just well-intentioned and armed with uncontroversial foundational source material.
